Hey, what is going on guys, Saransh here again with another review and this is the time for a low budget smartphone with a dual camera. Ulefone is a decent Chinese brand spreading its root all over the world. They are known to produce low budget gadgets with pretty nice features. With Ulefone Future, the company came into limelight as they were from the first few companies to manufacture a bezel-less smartphone. Now coming to the smartphone that we are gonna review today, Ulefone Gemini. After the Ulefone Metal, they have launched Gemini with the almost same price but with great modifications to keep getting a place in this market.
The dual camera is the highlight of Ulefone Gemini smartphone. Yes, the phone has a dual camera on the rear side and still cost just $140. I am impressed Ulefone is adopting variations and doing different things with their smartphones to get a good customer base. If you were looking to buy a low budget smartphone then maybe Ulefone Gemini might be the correct choice, we’ll find the answer in this Ulefone Gemini smartphone review. Build & Design
Ulefone Gemini is actually a phablet having a screen size of 5.5 inches. I think 5.5 inch is a decent screen size as I’m also using a 5.5-inch smartphone and does not feel much pain. Being a big screen size smartphone it weighs around 185 grams so it will be little heavy to carry. Apart from that, it has an elegant design with curved corners and metallic finish. The actual dimension of the product is 15.40 x 7.68 x 0.91 cm. The thickness should have been a little less as 0.36 inches thickness for a smartphone is not attractive.
To the left, it has volume rocker buttons and a power button and to the right, it has SIM card jack. The fingerprint sensor is now the very necessary feature for a smartphone, I’m personally the fan of the front fingerprint scanner. This phone has a fingerprint sensor on the front home screen button.
Now the back is pretty beautiful. It has a dual camera on the rear side with LED flash in between the two cameras. The positions of the dual camera is a little weird as the space between the two is very large. Followed by the Ulefone logo, this smartphone does not look like a cheap Chinese device in hand. So, overall the build quality is fair and the design is attractive. Now let’s move further in this Ulefone Gemini smartphone Review.
Display & Resolution
Like I previously questioned about the display quality during the Ulefone Metal Review, they have scored better this time. Unlike Ulefone Metal smartphone that has HD (1280 x 720p) display, Ulefone Gemini has Full HD (1920 x 1080p) display. I am happy that they are trying to improve their smartphone, a sign of a good company.
The 5.5 inches display with a Full HD display is pretty good and the color quality is fairly decent. It has 401 PPI, not the highest but not bad at the same time.

This is not the end, it also has 2.5D arc screen that makes it provide great viewing angles. Along with such good display, protection is also important at the same time. Ulefone Gemini has a Gorilla Glass 3 protection to protect the screen from getting shattered during accidents.
Hardware & Performance
Ulefone Gemini comes with MTK6737 Quad Core Processor clocked at 1.5 GHz with 3 GB of RAM. Undoubtedly the performance of this smartphone is pretty good. You will not find any lag using this smartphone. Quad core processor with 3 GB of RAM is more than enough to provide smooth processing and functioning of a smartphone. So usage of Ulefone Gemini is pretty smooth.
Ulefone Metal had MTK6753 chipset with octa-core processor but the MTK6737 chipset is more stable and battery efficient. Ther is not much difference in between the two chipsets, so the number is not going to bother anyone of you.
On board storage? Yes, they have improved in this field too. Now they are offering 32 GB onboard storage with Ulefone Gemini smartphone and you can also expand the storage to 256 GB via memory card as the smartphone also supports memory card.
Ulefone Metal had a few issues and one of them was the heating issue. Now there is not such issue so you can play high graphic games very smoothly on this driver. All because of the stability of the chipset. Moving further in this Ulefone Gemini Review.
Software & Connectivity
The software is something not everyone discusses during selecting a smartphone. But it should be one of the key points that one should consider in selecting a smartphone. Ulefone Gemini is backed with Android 6.0 which is upgradable to the latest Android Nougat. The latest smartphone thus gets the latest OS. This is not of much concern, but the type of UI and customization is the key point. Stock Android OS is something that everyone loves, I personally love the stock Android OS over other modified Android OS.
Ulefone Gemini is powered by stock Android OS with some little modifications. You won’t feel much difference, hence the UI is better and with the stock OS, the transition speed and performance has been improved. Now coming to the underrated part, connectivity of a smartphone. This smartphone/phablet is a 4G ready dual SIM smartphone and has a hybrid SIM slot that means you can either two SIM cards at the same time or one SIM card & one memory card. Hybrid SIM slot is getting more popular nowadays. If you want a dual SIM smartphone or a smartphone with expandable storage this is going to work like charm for either of the cases.
Make sure you compare the network bands of this smartphone with your country’s bands. Here are some details about that.
2G: GSM 850/900/1800/1900MHz
3G: WCDMA 900/2100MHz
4G: FDD-LTE 800/1700/1800/2100/2600MHz
Coming to the most highlighted feature of Ulefone Gemini, it has a dual camera on the rear side. The dual camera helps in excellent focus and capture amazing pictures. It has 2 rear cameras working as one, this combination helps in getting great depth during focusing an object. I am attaching a sample for you to compare the difference between an ordinary camera and a dual camera.
By looking at the above picture, you can clearly spot the difference between the two. The left picture is captured with an ordinary camera and the right one is from the Gemini’s dual camera. See how excellent the camera has focused on the object on the right side.
For a $140 smartphone, this feature is really amazing and it makes the phone worth to buy. As I told you that it has two cameras on the rear side, one is of 13.0 MP and the other is of 5.0 MP. The camera quality is just brilliant.

Coming to the front facing camera of Ulefone Gemini smartphone, it has 5.0 MP (SW 8.0MP) front facing camera to take selfies and do video calling. The front camera quality is not bad for a low budget smartphone. But the UI of the camera app needs a proper refresh.
Do you play games on your smartphone? Are you a heavy smartphone user? If yes, then maybe this one will disappoint you. Ulefone Gemini is backed with 3250 mAh Lithium-ion Battery. The battery capacity may sound fair but the backup is not much good. I will not say its worst, but it is something that won’t disappoint you if you are an average smartphone user. As under heavy usage, it can last up to 8-9 hours, which is not bad but not great too. So I’ll give 70 out of 100 for battery.
In this Ulefone Gemini review, we have covered almost every specification. But now it’s time for additional feature the smartphone has. Let’s list them down quickly.
- Air Gestures
- 3 Finger Screenshot
- Front Finger Print Scanner
- Gyro Sensor (For mobile VR)
- Themes customization

Ulefone Gemini Review – Final Verdict (Pick or Drop)
Definitely, Ulefone Gemini is far better than the Ulefone Metal. The screen size is bigger (5.5 inches), the resolution is better, and how can we forget about the dual camera. The smartphone is definitely a pick as you are getting all these features with an attractive design only for $140. So better to order your new driver.
