The previous version like UMI diamond and UMI Rome had MTK6753 chipset but UMI Z has Helio X27 chipset which is clearly better than the MTK6753. Not only it has a good processor, its design is also pretty good. Though it resembles with the iPhone because of the antenna bands and similar looking dual camera. UMI Z comes in two color variants that are Golden and Gray. Personally, I find the gray variant more appealing. So, without any further wait let’s start the UMI Z REVIEW.
Build & Design
First thing first, the design and build aspect of a smartphone is equally important. How it looks in your hand and how comfortable it is, are the important points in selecting a smartphone. If you are spending hundreds of bucks then you should get the right product. A smartphone should look appealing and at the same time should be comfortable while holding it in your hands. As it has a 5.5-inch display which I consider to be perfect if the bezel is not so large. Anyway let’s move forward and see if the build of UMI Z is worth spending $200+

Here is a good news for you, UMI Z has a pure metal unibody as it is carved from a single slab of Aluminium making it slimmer. The thickness of UMI Z is 0.36″ and weighs around 175 gms. On the front, it has a single home screen button with Finger Print sensor embedded in it. It is a very natural thing that a smartphone user simply clicks the home screen button as soon as he picks it up. So embedding the fingerprint sensor in the home screen button is pretty cool and easy to use just like iPhones.
Now on the rear side, it has a rear camera on the top left corner which I already said resembles with the camera of iPhone 7 Plus as it looks like a dual camera. The 13.0 MP rear camera is coupled with a quad LED flash. On the very center of its back, there is a UMI logo. To the right edge, it has volume rocker buttons along with lock screen button. The smartphone feels pretty comfortable in hand and gives really a premium look.
The UMI Z comes with a large display of 5.5 inches with Full HD resolution (1920 x 1080p). UMI Z uses an IGZO Full HD display with 441 PPI manufactured by sharp. The display quality is awesome and has a dragon tail glass protection that prevents the smartphone from getting shattered to a great extent. The dragon tail glass of UMI Z gives strength to the phone and makes the smartphone scratch proof.
Now coming to the camera in this UMI Z review, it has a 13.0 MP rear shooter with quad LED Flash. The rear camera of UMI Z is pretty similar to the dual camera of iPhone 7. The rear camera only looks like a dual camera but is not actually a dual camera.
It also has the same 13.0 MP front facing the camera to capture selfies and do video calling. The camera quality is decent and the color of the captured pics are also pretty fine. The camera does a good job and hence is recommended for users looking for a good camera smartphone.
UMI Z has a 13.0 MP rear shooter with additional dual focus system for the excellent focus to capture more appealing pictures. The pictures captured by the rear shooter are really very good and full of colors. In addition to this, the rear camera also has quad LED flash to capture the best out of the moments in dull light.

The front camera is nowhere less than the rear camera. The front camera is also 13.0 MP with Samsung S5K3L8 sensor that provides pictures with high resolution capturing more bright selfies with high resolution. The front camera also has the front flash which is becoming more famous to capture selfies in dark.
Hardware & Performance
UMI Z is powered with Helio X27 2.6GHz Deca-Core Processor which is really fast when compared to the MTK6753 chipset that comes in the previous versions of UMI smartphones. The processing speed of the deca-core processor is pretty fast. For your knowledge let me tell you that the Helio X27 chipset is the latest Mediatek flagship processor. The powerful CPU chipset along with the power of x10 cores makes it super fast.
This is not the end, UMI Z is also powered with 4 GB of RAM to make the smartphone even more powerful and smooth. The user performance is really nice as the hardware of this smartphone is excellent. Now let’s move forward in this UMI Z review and discuss its software and more.
The software of a smartphone is something very few of us discuss but trust me it is one the important key points in selecting a new smartphone. This flagship killer, UMI Z smartphone comes with Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) out of the box which is upgradable to Android 7.0 (Nogut). I am a big fan of stock Android and the UMI Z is no less, it has a stock Android interface with latest Android Nogut that makes it more of a fun to explore. Anyway, very few modifications have been made to make the UI better. But they should not have made any changes as I really like the basic stock Android. It still depends on user preference, maybe you’ll like the modifications. Anyway continuing further in this UMI Z review.
UMI Z smartphone has a big battery capacity of 3780mAh that can last more than a day very easily. Looking for a good battery smartphone? Maybe this smartphone will attract you as the battery backup is good and it also has fast charging option. It can be charged to use for a day in just 30 minutes, the company claims. It has USB type C just like iPhone for faster transfer and with 2.5A charger it charges in a jiffy.
