How to use Smart Lock in android lollipop
In the Smart Lock screen, you will see a list of options of the available smart protection such as Trusted devices, trusted face, trusted voice. Let see how to use smart lock in android lollipop:
With this feature you can add a trusted device to keep your phone unlocked when connected. The trusted devices includes:
- Your Bluetooth watch
- Your car’s Bluetooth system
- An NFC sticker on the phone dock in your car
If you are using a Bluetooth watch as a trusted device for your phone, the watch should have to be in a range of up to 100 metres.
To add a Trusted device for your phone, open the trusted devices option and click on ADD TRUSTED DEVICE and pair your phone with the device you want to use as a trusted device. Upon pairing a device for the first time, you will get a notification asking if you want to add it as a trusted device, just tap Add as a trusted device.
If you are at home, then you will hate to enter the password of your phone to unlock it. You can skip entering the password by using Trusted places feature in the android lollipop.
To use the trusted places feature, tap on the Trusted places and click on Add trusted place. Find the location you want to set as a trusted place and then select the location. Note: this will work in the range of up to 80 metres.
Trusted face feature was launched in android kitkat. This features detects the face of the owner and then there will be no need to enter the password or PIN.
Trusted face is less secure than a pattern, PIN or password. To enable the trusted face feature, tap on Trusted face and click on SETUP, hold the phone at eye level and click on NEXT. The phone will now detect your face and will save it, now you don’t need to enter the password to unlock your phone.
This feature will save your voice and will detect it when you are using the phone. To enable this feature, first you have to change the phone language to English (United States). Open the Google app and navigate to Google settings, click on Voice. Change the device Language to English (United States). Now tap on “Ok Google” Detection, enable “From the Google app” option. Say “Ok Google” three times to get started.
Now go back to the Smart lock screen and tap on Trusted voice and enable it. Just say Ok Google if you want to unlock your phone.
I personally don’t know why this feature is included. Anyway, to enable it, just tap On-body detection and turn it ON. Note, your device stays unlocked as long as you keep holding your device in your hand or carrying it in your pocket or handbag. Your device will automatically lock when it detects that it’s been set down. Congo! Now you know how to use smart lock feature in android lollipop, have fun.
