Looking to get in on the smartwatch craze without spending a boatload? The Z80 3G Smartwatch just might be the best way to do so. Z80 has been offering incredibly affordable smartwatches for quite some time now, and this latest model is a well-needed update to a tried and true platform. Let’s take a look and see how it performs compared to other smartwatches and start the z80 3g smartwatch review.
The Z80 3G smartwatch is certainly on the larger side of smartwatches. It is incredibly well designed, clearly capable of sustaining the bumps and scratches that come with daily life. The entire watch is made from a tough rubber. This gives it a sleek, unassuming design that isn’t going to capture any unwanted attention. From the outside, it just looks like your typical athletic watch. It’s not until you turn it on that you see all the features this watch really has.
Like many smartwatches, this one is built using a powerful MediaTek chipset. This gives you a quad core 1.3 GHZ processor. For most watch tasks, this is a little overkill. However, smartwatches are still very new to the market. It’s a good idea to have a little headroom so your watch doesn’t go obsolete with the next update. Fortunately, the Z80 Smartwatch has as much headroom as you will need. In addition to the powerful processor, they’ve also thrown in a competent 512MB of ram and 4GB of ROM, more than enough to run any watch based apps.
One of our biggest frustrations with smartwatches is the awkward, tiny display. Many apps are not designed yet for the round displays, and they are simply frustrating to use. Fortunately, the Z80 has a 1.5” square display that is crystal clear even in bright sunlight. We found the touch to be responsive, even though it’s covered with a thick layer of gorilla glass to keep it from cracking.
One thing you get in the Z80 smartwatch that you won’t often find is a full cellular connection. Most people have to pair their watches with their phones to get notifications, but the Z80 can take its own NanoSIM chip to access the internet. In fact, the capable speakers and sensitive microphone are even suitable for use with hands-free phone calls. Outside of the cellular network, you can also access WiFi or even connect to your phone via Bluetooth.
So, Should I Get the Z80 Smartwatch?
The Z80 smartwatch is an amazing deal at only $65. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not the most powerful smartwatch on the market. However, it’s perfect for phone calls, getting notifications, tracking your fitness, and of course telling the time. If you’re looking for an affordable, entry level watch that will let you test out the platform, this is a perfect choice. Is it the cheapest? No. However, most cheaper smartwatches make some serious compromises to get the price down. The Z80 is actually a very competent device, you won’t notice any frustrating slowdowns or suffer from terrible battery life. In our opinion, this is the best entry level smartwatch on the market.
