Chrome fonts not displaying correctly issue – FIX

One fine morning when I opened the Google Chrome, I found the fonts to be really ugly and blurry. The Google Chrome fonts were not displaying correctly, the fonts were completely changed and rendering. I was really irritated by this problem and tried many things to get everything back to normal. You are reading this post because the same thing actually happened with you too. Here I am sharing my experience and thereby the solution to overcome this type of irritating problem. So in this post, I’m gonna show you 2 methods to get rid of chrome fonts not displaying correctly issue.

How to fix “Chrome fonts not displaying correctly” error

In order to fix this issue first try the method A. If it didn’t fix the issue then you might have to try the other method, method B. You can also read our guide to fix unable to connect to proxy server on Google chrome or fix to webpage not available.

Method A

The very first thing you need to do is open the properties of Google Chrome (right click on the Google Chrome Shortcut and click on properties).

Now in the Shortcut tab, scroll over to Target and add the following after chrome.exe” 

/high-dpi-support=1 /force-device-scale-factor=1

Note – Do remember to put (space) after chrome.exe” otherwise it will show an error.

COMMON STEP – after doing it, click on OK and close the Google Chrome application. Remember to clear the Chrome from system tray as well.

Now just restart your system and see if it worked or not. It should work, but if somehow the problem still persists then you should try the next method, method B to fix Google Chrome fonts not displaying correctly error.

Method B

If method B was not useful for you, then method B might certainly help you.

It is a very simple method, you just need to open a new tab and type in chrome://flags and hit enter. You will see a bunch of experiment options, now you need to find an option – DirectWrite Windows, if it is enabled then simply disable it. After disabling it, repeat the COMMON STEP explained in method A.

Or in some case you might need to enable DirectWrite Windows, if it is already disabled. Don’t forget to repeat the COMMON STEP explained in method A.

  1. I have this problem, but i dont see the DirectWrite option in the Flags.
    I have tried turning off/on the hardware acceleration in chrome settings. I have tried playing with other flags, i inserted the code per Method 1 above… all to no avail.
    Am sure DirectWrite would do it – if I could only find it!
    Am running Chrome version 52.0.2743.60 beta-m (64-bit)
